When I was first released from rehab over 11 years ago, I was not very big on praying. It was very uncomfortable and almost felt phony to me to recite prayers that I had no connection with. I had no feeling just repeating words.
I could recite a whole Catholic mass…but it meant nothing to me.
So, they released me into the world and told me to find and connect with a higher power of my own understanding.
HUH? I had no understanding of how to care for myself, how was this higher power thing supposed to happen?
